Douglas Fir is the selected material for fabrication of Moosman Bridges.  All of Moosman Bridges are engineered with the specific capabilities inherent to Douglas Fir.  When architects and engineers look for the best in structural timber, their first choice is often Douglas fir. The species is highly resistant to mechanical abrasion and chemical reaction. The natural beauty of Douglas Fir is another foremost reason for its chosen use in Moosman Bridges. When dry, Douglas fir retains its shape and size without shrinking, swelling, cupping, warping, bowing or twisting, and generally won’t check or show a raised grain. .  Douglas Fir’s light rosy color is set off by its remarkable straight and handsome grain pattern.

Moosman Bridge Grizzly

This Grizzly shows the graining and color of the Douglas Fir.  The bridge is treated with a coating of shingle oil.  The type of wood treatment can be of the customer’s choice for further maintenance.  If no further treatment of the Douglas Fir is done the timber will naturally change to a silver grey color.

Moosman Bridge styles Toga, Niobrara, Grizzly, and Cherry County are all designed and constructed of Douglas Fir.
